SPEEDCAT v1.1 Release!


Hey everyone!

This is a medium-sized update to SPEEDCAT. After the game’s launch, I received some feedback about a few problem areas or frustrating moments players experienced while playing the game. While no game is perfect, I wanted to provide a better experience!

I finally set aside some time this past week to address some of those concerns. In this update to the game, I have added:

  • a new block: platforms! You keep your momentum traveling upwards through them, but you can stand on top of them as if they were a solid block. These have been placed in such a way to prevent screen flickers, as well as adjust a few rooms’ difficulty curves to make the game more approachable and friendly.
  • coyote time: in case you aren’t familiar with game dev lingo, coyote time is the term for the small window of grace that some games give you when jumping off of a ledge. Previously, SPEEDCAT did not have any coyote time. Now, if you hit the jump button just a little too late, you’ll still perform the jump!
  • room updates: as mentioned before, the rooms have been updated slightly for balance reasons. If you’ve played the game to completion, the new update likely won’t add anything more to your experience of the game (unless you are a speedrunner). This isn’t a brand new game or a new set of levels, just a set of balance adjustments.

SPEEDCAT has already garnered a much better reception than I could have ever hoped for!! Thank you all for your support of my game development!
